Entertainment Slide & Satellite

Scheduled for a (on the roof) satellite install at Camping World this morning. The brand is the Winegard Trav'ler automated dish. The tech told us that we can't have a roof mounted satellite because a) there wasn't enough cable to connect to the main television; and b) he couldn't connect to the main television anyway because it's located in the slide, and it would be a problem hiding the coax. Now, we're not real satellite savvy that's why we were going to pay somebody to do this. However, it sounded really suspicious to us because why would the television be in the slide (and wired) and not be able to wire a satellite in the same area? Can ANYBODY help us with this issue? Our sig shows our coach. Thank you in advance.

Route to Cannon Beach OR

We plan on taking Hwy 30 from Longview OR to Astoria (and then down to Cannon Beach). Can anybody tell me if this is a good road for pulling a 38 ft coach? Thank you in advance.

RE: You know fuel prices are high when . . .

You know fuel prices are high when... You drive your tow vehicle into the driveway to sweep and clean the garage and your neighbor tells you that you must be WEALTHY!! He would have swept around it while still parked in the garage to save fuel. HaHa Happy RVing!

RE: Do you have a name for your RV?

Our fiver is the TajMahal (license plate is TAJMHAL), and the tv is Big Red (license plate is ITOWTAJ). You can see pics on our webpage. Happy RVing!

RE: Oxygenics shower head...opinions

We purchased on back in February and will be able to use it this weekend as it's our first weekend out this season. Happy RVing!

RE: Anyone cancelling trips due to gas prices?

We're planning a 2000 mile round trip to the Washington/Oregon in July. We know that it will cost more in fuel, however we're prepared for it. We're looking forward to this trip just as much as the kids. Happy RVing!

RE: Helena, MT

We, too, stayed at Lincoln Road RV Park in the past. It was very clean and quiet. That would be our choice again. Happy RVing.

RE: How Long Do You Keep your Unit

We purchased our first fiver (2000 Fleetwood Terry) in 2004, and sold it in 2007. We purchased our current coach (see sig). DH wants to keep it forever because it suits our needs very well, however I say sell it in 3-4 years and upgrade to a new one (same make and model). Happy RVing

RE: CARDINAL OR CEDAR CREEK BOTH BY FOREST RIVER

We were told that the CC and Cardinal come down the same assembly and made the same except for the name. We chose the CC because of what you get for the money. We did look at some Cardinals but didn't like the floorplans. We ABSOLUTELY love ours and are eagerly awaiting RVing Season! Happy RVing

RE: JT stabilizers

We purchased our JT stabilizers through RV Wholesalers. We, too, found that to be the lowest price, and they arrived within a week. We haven't been able to install them as it's still snowing in Belgrade MT. Happy RVing

New Shower Head for Our Coach

So we just received our new shower head for our fifth wheel. Its the Oxygenics Body Spa RV Showerhead sold in Camping World. DH installed it yesterday, but we won't be able to try it out until our season starts (end of March at the earliest). We bought it because we're tired of getting "spit" on during a shower from our old shower head. We hope this new one works better. Does anybody have this new shower head? If so, what is your experience? Thanks for your responses in advance.

Issaquah (WA) Village RV Park

I'm making the last of our reservations for this summer. We had planned on staying at Seattle/Tacoma KOA. They quoted me $74/night and that's with our ValueKard! In light of this we have decided to stay elsewhere. Can anybody tell me about Issaquah Village RV Park? Is it big rig friendly or should we be looking somewhere else? Thank you in advance.

RE: are most of you overweight?????

Am I overweight? Not the last time I looked in the mirror. LOL I couldn't resist. Happy RVing.

RE: Need Some Opinions On 38-40Ft 5th Wheelers

Our first coach was a 32 ft double slide. We liked it, but we knew we wouldn't have it past 3-4 years. We researched our current coach (see sig) for 2 1/2 years before we finally purchased it. We absolutely LOVE and would own another one. It isn't much different from pulling our old coach, however we do look for larger camground sites because we now have three slides. When the slides are out we are approx 14 feet wide in the living room. We really love our fireplace! Good luck in your search, and Happy Holidays!

RE: New Hitch B&W vs Pullrite

We have the B&W. We pulled gooseneck with our first fiver, and now we have the hitch with the new one. DH loves it because he can pull the hitch out when he hunts or needs to haul something. It only takes him about 5-10 minutes to remove or put it back in the tow vehicle. Hope this helps. Happy RVing!

RE: One foot closer to taking the 5th........

take the best deal to your closest dealer-even if its a little higher, it would be worth it for saving fuel every time it needs service. We traveled from Montana to Chicago area this last summer for our new coach and saved over $15,000. I say if you have the time go for the best deal even if it's a little more driving. Any Keystone dealer will honor your warranty work. Our local dealer has honored our warranty work. Happy RVing!

RE: In a hurry don't forget pull test

We have a B&W hitch, and our lever has a pin lock. When we stop for fuel or leave the rig for whatever reason I always look up underneath the hitch and make sure the pin is in place before we leave. You never know who will come along and pull the pin. Happy RVing!

Our Coach Will be Home for Christmas

Our CC has been at the Dealer since the middle of October getting some warranty work done. They fixed everything except for paint touchups which they won't do until spring. We were notified yesterday that we can pick our fifth wheel up tomorrow so she'll be home for the holidays! It sure is amazing when our coach isn't at home how much we miss it. Happy Holidays and Happy RVing to those lucky ones who are able to do so.

RE: What to do in Montana?

Wow, I'm impressed that members from Montana actually replied to this topic! Usually people reply that don't even live here. Okay, what about Virginia City and Nevada City? Both are great little old gold mining towns with alot to do. There is also a KOA located right in Virginia City. Butte has alot of copper mining history with underground tours. Near Ennis is the flyfishing capital. Paradise Valley (south of Livingston) is wonderful scenery to just take in the views. Hope this helps. Happing RVing.

RE: Glacier National Park, MT

June is definitely "iffy" to see Glacier because of the weather. There have been times that the Going-to-the-Sun Road is still being plowed due to spring snowfall. I would say to plan for the end instead of the beginning of June if you have to go in that month. We stayed on both sides: LaSalle RV Park in Columbia Falls and St Mary KOA in St Mary. We towed the fifth wheel over Marias Pass on Highway 2 to get from the west side to the east side. We took our kids to Glacier the first week of July in 2004. It was still cold on Logan Pass, and the roads were open. Happy Planning. PS. We're planning our trip for Seattle and Portland.
